Stem cell research has probably never been higher on the agenda. Celebrities, such a the late Christopher Reeeve, viewed stem cell research as offering the only truly viable hope for conditions such as spinal cord injury. Stem cell research has its political and charitable backers too and could hold out hope for Alzheimer's sufferers.
