Withholding a Diagnosis of Alzheimer's

"My grandmother was diagnosed a few years ago and my grandfather decided it was best to keep things right and not tell her that she has Alzheimer's, but has gone ahead with treatment".

When Scott wrote this on the forum he touched on a key issue. Is it right to withhold information in order to protect someone, or is it the person's right to know?
