The Alzheimer's Project a Must See

Wednesday May 27, 2009
If you missed The Alzheimer's Project -- the multi-part HBO special on Alzheimer's disease and caregiving, you can still watch it for free online. I highly recommend this excellent series that covers what is known about the disease and its devastating effects, how it affects caregivers and families, and what scientific discoveries are on the horizon.

Have you seen The Alzheimer's Project? If so, tell us about it by posting a comment. I'd love to hear your thoughts about the series.

I watched the entire series when it was first shown on HBO. I am in the very early stages of Alzheimer’s. My father, grandmother and two aunts have or had it, so I am familiar with some of its ravages. However, I must say that this project gaves me whole new scenarios to try to forget!!! However, and a big however: The sections about research were marvelous. It gave me hope for my family, and if they hurry, even hope for me.

My husband has Alzheimer’s and he is at home with me, as his only caregiver. I watched the second part of the series this morning and was very interested in 1 comment at the bottom of the article…not part of the show itself…It referred to a story on Lakelandtimes.com about rispardal (an antiphysotic drug which is commonly given for behavioral problems, but can cause heart problems and death. My husband took this for a short time, then I took him off and I’m very glad I did. Please read up on this drug.

I watched part of the series on HBO and part of it at www.alz.org. The Alzheimer’s Project has to be the most complete documentary ever made about Alzheimer’s. To see my personal opinions read my post at http://earlyonset.blogspot.com.
