Carrie Hill, PhD

Carrie spent five years as the Southern Utah Regional Director of the Alzheimer's Association before becoming a freelance writer, editor, and presenter.

Carrie has over 10 years of experience working for agencies in the health, human service, and senior sectors, including Caregivers Home Health in Woodstock, Illinois; the Center for Gerontology at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana; the Life Management Institute in Anderson, Indiana; the Jefferson Center for Mental Health in Arvada, Colorado; the Buffalo VA Medical Center in New York; and the Alzheimer's Association in St. George, Utah. In addition to publishing over one dozen journal articles and book chapters, she has conducted over 70 presentations at local, state, national, and international events.

Carrie earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a Minor in Gerontology from Indiana University - Bloomington. Prior to that, she earned a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and an M.A. in Community Counseling and Applied Gerontology from Ball State University.

After watching my own grandmother experience the effects of Alzheimer's disease, I knew that I wanted to use my education and skills to guide others through the difficult challenges my own family faced. My knowledge is a combination of personal and professional experiences that complement each other and reveal the humanity and dignity inherent in all those affected. It is my hope that this website will empower those concerned about themselves or someone close to them by providing compassionate, accurate information and support through every stage of the journey.
