Definition: The Lifespan Respite Care Act was signed into law in 2006 to ensure that community-based respite care services were more accessible and affordable to family caregivers, regardless of the care recipient's or caregiver's age or disability.

On March 11, 2009 President Obama signed a FY 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill including $2.5 million in funding for the Lifespan Respite Care Act.
