Definition: A CT scan is a method of taking an image of the brain. CT stands for computed tomography, a procedure that produces a clear, two-dimensional image of the brain that shows abnormalities such as brain tumors, blood clots, strokes, or damage due to head injury. A CT scan can help identify the cause of Alzheimer's-like symptoms either by finding an abnormality or by ruling out certain conditions.
