Definition: Early-stage Alzheimer's refers to the period of time an individual first experiences signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's that interfere with daily functioning. This is not the same as early-onset Alzheimer's, when the disease occurs before the age of 65. The early stage can last anywhere from several months to several years, depending on the individual.
Also Known As: Mild Alzheimer's is used synonymously with early-stage Alzheimer's. When Alzheimer's is broken down into seven stages, early-stage Alzheimer's corresponds with Stage 4.
