Hallucination

Definition: A sensory experience that seems real to the person experiencing it, though it is not actually happening. Hallucinations can occur among those with Alzheimer's disease and other kinds of dementia.
Examples: The most common hallucinations are visual (seeing something that isn't really there) and auditory (hearing something that isn't really there), but hallucinations can also occur in regard to taste, smell, and touch.
