Andrew Rosenzweig, MD, MPH, is a former writer for Verywell Health covering Alzheimer's and geriatric health. He serves as the chief clinical officer for MedOptions, the largest provider of behavioral health services to nursing home and assisted living facility residents in five states.

Dr. Rosenzweig is also an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University. He received a 2007 Teaching Recognition Award from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He has participated in and testified at numerous court hearings involving legal guardianship and mental capacity, and has lectured frequently on issues involving late-life mental health and dementia.

He has led support groups in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and has provided numerous educational programs to facility staff. He has published several articles and chapters on bereavement-related depression in the elderly, and is writing a book on dementia care in institutions.

Education

Dr. Rosenzweig attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate education, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science in statistics. He attended the University of Michigan Medical School, receiving his MD along with his Master of Public Health in epidemiology. He completed his residency training in general adult psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he remained for his fellowship in geriatric psychiatry.
