As Alzheimer's progresses, IADLs become more difficult.

Definition: Skills necessary to live independently, such as abilities to use a telephone, shop for groceries, handle finances, perform housekeeping tasks, prepare meals, and take medications.

As Alzheimer's disease progresses, the ability to carry out instrumental activities of daily living eventually disappears. This deterioration is followed by problems carrying out more basic activities of daily living, such as eating and dressing.
