
Star Trek's Scotty, James Doohan, dies

85 year old actor who played Scotty in the first Star Trek series has died. James Doohan 'Beamed up' at 5:30, his wife of 25 years, Wende, by his side.
James Doohan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease last year. Cause of death was given as pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease.
James Doohan, born March 3, 1920, in Vancouver, British Columbia, lived a full and active life. He married three times and had nine children. The last child was born when Doohan was 80 years old.
Scotty's acting career followed active service in the Canadian army in
World War II. He fought in France on D-Day.
The part for which he was most well known, the Scottish engineer in
Star Trek, began in 1966 and initially ran just 3 years.
Films, T.V , lecturing and many Trekkie conventions later James Doohan will be fondly remembered by all Star Trek fans as a talented actor who gave us great pleasure and happiness.
